KIXX oil-change rewards

A loyalty app and shop portal we built for KIXX lubricants in Saudi Arabia — drivers logged every oil change, earned points and redeemed free litres at partner shops, in English and Arabic.

The brief

The problem to solve

Drivers rarely remember where — or when — they last changed their oil, and shops had no simple way to reward them for coming back. KIXX wanted an app that kept every car’s oil-change history and turned each visit into rewards.

Objectives

  1. Log every oil change, for every car
  2. Reward loyalty with points and free litres
  3. Guide drivers to the nearest partner shop
  4. Let shop staff redeem offers with a QR scan
  5. Run promotions and watch the shop network from one portal
What we built

Drivers, shops and KIXX

Drivers used the app, shop staff used salesman mode, and KIXX ran the network from the portal.

Points land in the driver’s account.

STEP 05

Redeem litres

Points become free litres on the next visit.

Architecture

How the system fits together

Native Android and iOS apps shared one PHP API with the KIXX portal; Firebase handled sign-in, push notifications and dynamic links.

Challenges

Designed in the shop

01

Mapped before we built

ChallengeEvery step of an oil change had to work for both the driver and the shop.

How we solved itWe mapped the full journey — map, QR, odometer, feedback, points — and tested every step against it.

02

Two languages, two directions

ChallengeSaudi drivers use English and Arabic.

How we solved itA full Arabic translation with right-to-left layouts and assets.

03

Rewards that match real visits

ChallengeDiscounts should only go to real oil changes.

How we solved itRewards are redeemed only when shop staff scan the customer’s QR code and record the change.

04

Native on both platforms

ChallengeMaps, camera and notifications had to feel instant.

How we solved itNative apps in Java and Swift, with Google Maps and Firebase.

The latest

If we built it today

Platforms like KIXX can now do far more for the people who use them. These are the upgrades we’d add today, using the AI and automation we build for clients.

Standard now

What’s changed — and how we use it

  • WhatsApp reminders

“Your oil change is due” — based on each car’s mileage.

  • Predicted service dates

Daily mileage turns into a due date for every car.

  • AI product advisor

The right oil from the car’s make and model.

  • Shop insights

Which shops and promotions bring drivers back.

  • Digital wallet cards

Loyalty cards in Apple and Google Wallet.

  • Ask your data

“Which promotion drove the most visits this month?”
